Recommendations for large colour prints from jpegs

Any photographers got any recommendations for places to go to get prints made from digital files. I don't mind whether online or postal service but obviously reasonably priced, good quality prints are important. I'm after larger sizes - 9" x 6" and up at the moment. I had a look at Boots but the software that you need to install on your PC failed to install on my computer.

Have you looked at; Asda, Tesco, Jessops - they all do online (probably in-store) printing?

Old postal film-favourites that probably do digital and online -Tru and Bonus print.

Never really used any of them so can't comment on quality, prices are probably reasonably similar and they mostly give you some free prints on your first order..

Someone I work with (who does wedding photography as a sideline) swears by Photobox. Certainly the stuff I've seen from them looks good.

Took my CD to Boots in the end yesterday. They charged ?11.60 for 29 photos at 9" x 6" and printed them for me in 45 minutes. That's 40p per print.

Thanks for the other suggestions. Looks like photobox.com do the same size for 35p per print.

I use www.mypix.com . They're not quick (~1 week) but are pretty cheap and very good quality.

No-one has yet said quite what the purpose of these prints is. I can print, right here on glossy paper, up to 11.7" x 8.25" (AKA "A4") using an HP printer that cost less than forty quid from Lidl. I have not worked out the exact cost per print, that varies with usage, anyway, but it is certainly ball park with the figures quoted above.

It's far more convenient as well.

That is as may be but as no-one has yet stated the purpose of the prints, I do not know whether it is relevant or not. All prints fade in sunlight, in time. How long do these ones have to last?

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm putting together an album of photos of the work that we've done in the Bagshawe entrance stope recently. It will become part of the club library so I want the photos to be good quality and to last as long as possible.

Incidentally - Rob the photos that you took look great as prints. If you can make it down to the Eldon meet at 9:00 at the Bowling Green on Thursday June 5th I'll have the album with me then.
