Rope Washer Plans

Does anyone have a set of plans (or photos) for a home made rope washer. I'm tired of having to kneel over a bowl of warm water with the usual hand scrubber.

Without a doubt, the best washer and coiler I've ever seen is the one in the Orpheus, but that looks like a proper welding engineer has put it together. I'm more interested in something that I could put together in my shed using pulley wheels, wood, copper pipe, etc. and ready made fittings.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a better pre-made rope washer than the little black tubes they sell?

Planet Bosch in my case isn't going to be getting any rope like landers any time soon - it may sound daft, but I don't even like putting my furry in the machine very often, usually because it scums it up totally. Strangely enough though, the washing machines at Uni were always very accommodating (as were the bath tub we used with the black tubes - they had to replace it pretty much once a year, but they never worked out why  :halo: )

Paul - I'm jealous, but as amazing as the OCC washer is, I think it falls outside the scope of my engineering abilities.  :-[

Do what we did, get a washing machine for nothing off "Freecycle", and keep it outside under a tarp. You be able to clean your furry now and again with a clear concience too.

yep - I use the house hold one (with relatively clean ropes that have already had a good dunking in a stream or some such.

But the thought of a 2nd hand one, or better still free off free cycle is very tempting .... if I could  only persuade the missus that it would look great on our patio.

I will admit that the BEC are going to shamelessly copy the ropewasher, including putting it indoors.  Got my spies to take photos a while ago.  Could you tell me where you got the brushes from?

I'm not certain (I didn't make it myself - it was another OCC member also called Paul conicidentally) but I would guess they are easily available. They are just ordinary cheap plastic brushes from Wilkos or similar.

The rope coiler was made by the same Paul but it was deemed more of a rope "twister" and removed so, sorry, no photos.

Cheers Sam, I'd got as far as realising you can't just put a link to your hard drive location, and had uploaded them to the web, but hadn't got round to putting the link to the website. Oh well.

I particularly like Dave's washer design - apparently the two doors with all the bolts in are made from plastic chopping board - an ingenius idea!

It looks to me like photos 2-4 show the washer under construction with no water supply yet installed. Photo 1 seems to be completed and clearly showes a water supply (lagged in grey foam) entering the top of the washer between the two top pulleys and spraying the water downwards from a copper pipe T piece.
