If you are there with permission maybe leave some sort of marker indicating cavers are inside?
Though admittedly this may give some cretins more reason to secure the latch

When we were regularly digging and climbing down there our hard rigging started at the 1st re-belay.

When we were regularly digging and climbing down there our hard rigging started at the 1st re-belay.

People who cave down Rowter once every year or two don't remember that as well as you guys. They just remember that last time they were there they had to rig round some hard rigging, and that it didn't necessarily mean there was anyone down there.

The main thing at fault here is a a questionable external catch system that serves no purpose, other than making it potentially impossible to leave.
