I think it's a set-up. Someone's trying to make me look bad. This is a major improvement, however, from my usual state of distilled evil. It's kind of a backhanded compliment, I guess. Anyway. I'm Spartacus.

Either way, this has (is) been very well played......though had the Ransome demands been more reasonable, say a donation to the M.R.O.,,, sorry M.C.R.,, they would have probably been, no doubt met.
Usually in this sort of thing, a dialogue would have been established by now, and terms, better to both parties would have been worked out...this is more Thatcher/I.R.A. than Hume/Addams right now.

No Bob, the point I was making was that Thatcher refused to even countenance establishing a dialogue with the I.R.A., under any circumstances, and the killing just went on and on.
Once the old boot was gone, John Hume and Gerry Addams were able to start talks that eventually led to the Good Friday Agreement, that then ended the troubles.
As things stand with the Bat, the terms laid down, by the "Kidnappers" are, deliberately un-meetable, therefor, a contact should be made with them ( Via a neutral intertmediary) to establish NEW terms that would be beneficial to both parties , say some form of funding arrangement/donation for the MCR.
NOTE: this is speculation, I don't speak for the whole club, I'm merely putting forward alternative options.

Slug, the kidnappers have already made contact via a neutral intermediary; they did so via email (anonymously, via a gmail account) and their message and video was posted here as a result. If you wish to deal with them directly (and assuming they don't disagree) I can forward you the email address if you are the BEC's spokesperson dealing with this present situation.

A B.E.C. Member WAS kidnapped, for real, back in the 80's, by Philipino Guerillas, but released a few weeks later, unharmed.
The consensus of opinion within the club was that :
He'd Eaten all their food,
Drank all their Beer,
Smoked all their weed, and
Shagged all their women,
and they got fed up with it, so let him go.
Terrorists can now suffer from Smart's syndrome.
