So well written...an excellent caving book I'd recommend.

The author is clever at almost convincing you that they rescuers are going to save him.

Surely a modern day rescue team would have got him out alive....

It's definitely Film Noir . There's some truly vicious dialogue in it.

I found the songs poignant and am half way through watching the film whilst I do my books, a hideous task made much easier by Kirk Douglas
