Very unexpected.

Thanks to John Beck & Rob Eavis for this plan

Red X marks the location of the dig, directly above Static Passage in the Wet West extensions in Glebe Mine.

There is a possibility it connects with this but it will probably be an engineered way in if it does.

Current situation is down about 4mtrs, appears to open into roof of a choked passage running East/west, there is an "open" cavity to the East but all the draught comes from the West so currently digging in this direction.

I am going to sort the top out and fit an electric winch next, so I can dig on my own when I feel like it,

If anyone wants to have a look, let me know

Any idea of the vertical distance between Static Passage and the land surface in the vicinity of your discovery?

We are at 254m

Not sure what end of Static Passage is but estimate about 50mtrs below

Nice one Mark.  Will make another interesting item within the HE Peak Update - I trust it will be OK to mine info and images from the above?

Absolutely Simon, had a good session with Jack Loftus last night, still looking good, some big rocks to deal with now,

Wendy suggested a dig fest this coming weekend if anyone fancies joining us

What a brilliant find  ;)

I suppose most sane people who would of discovered that would of had a concrete truck turn up and fill it quick before the building inspector showed up, what a waste!

Keep us posted  :)

Which side did you n Jack go?  I think NIMBY pot is a great name, even more so knowing you pair  You can still call the massive chamber (that you will inevitably find) Marks Magnificent Wonder Cavern (y)

Not had much chance to dig for a while but had a couple of sessions with Sam Pemberton and Bog

The dig was progressing quite nicely, but turned back under the extension.

We got into a boulder filled rift which ran back up to surface, just beneath where we first discovered the hole.

Turns out we were in the top of a water worn rift (not a tube as originally thought)

Anyway I have back filled the shaft, dug back under the house, and got into the top of the rift.

Now it needs digging out back to the level of the bedding plane where all the draught comes from.

The original hole we found was just above the spade handle in the last photo,

The draughting bedding plane is about 4ft below the spade.
