WANTED underground surveys of Merstham and Chaldon areas

I'm sorry but for fucks sake can we put an end to this thread?

Hole has got what he wanted and we have all listened to a very tedious slanging match between him and Roger Cook.

The issues discussed here are obviously beyond the scope of this board and should be dealt with in the real world.

Guys, Fire Dragon agrees, this thread is now of no further purpose.

To be useful, it needed to quickly establish proper dialogue that could then be moved off-board. There has been two chances now and no "serious" result.

For information, Fire Dragon's own research finds these small mines have remained unlocked, accessible and in use for over 30 years by a small number of various individuals, groups and organisations, with no mention of site damage recently or in the past.

Hole in the Rock you have twice proved unhelpful to me in my attempts to bring the parties towards resolution. At best you give me nothing to work with, at worst you use your replies to undertake a personal vendetta unconnected with my aim. The Landowners are likely to have "thanked you" for bringing them benefit from an agreement, as any agreement must have MUTUAL benefit.

Unhelpful statements have been made repeatedly on this forum which conflict with what I now determine as fact, therfore I conclude I do not have "2" willing and serious parties or their representatives on this thread that I can try and bring together.

A pity.

Fire Dragon wastes no further time on this. She thanks you for tolerating her intrusion and is sorry to have been unable to help. Hole in the Rock, please do check the legal meaning of libel, correct terms and what you can or cannot expect of my professional colleagues.

What?

Everything has to be under your terms but you will not explain what your terms are so you are now withdrawing you so-called offer of help.

So there was no real offer of help, you wanted someone to say that everyone is immune from any action that their own stupidity will bring them. Interesting.

Would you also require gold knobs on top?

I'm inclined to agree that this isn't going to get any further via this board.

This topic has also seen some of the most childish and ridiculous arguing I've seen on my forums.

Perhaps you do need to meet up in real life, or via channels where the identities, etc of the participants can be verified.

I wish to make a final statement to all those of you who have followed this thread and who have expressed a degree of irritation over its content. If my posts have in any way contributed to your irritation then I apologise unreservedly. It was not my intention to degrade the good quality of this forum. If you think I have done so, then I accept that I could have taken more care when adding to the debate. My intention was to do no more that use the facts at my disposal to contradict some of the statements being made here. The persistent nature and repetition of certain statements may have resulted in me qualifying my facts with personal opinions. I agree that recent postings have confirmed that this thread has nowhere to go and is best destined for the cyber-dustbin.

For the sake of those who have patiently watched from the sidelines, but who are directly affected by the acrimony displayed by certain parties, I believe that your restraint should be rewarded. My message to you is that you deserve better than what has transpired to date.

For those of you who think that a small mine in Surrey does not merit the attention it has received here, then I actually agree with you. It isn't the mine that is the issue here, it's the integrity of an honest and earnest group of cavers, with values and ambitions no different from the bulk of the caving fraternity throughout Britain.

This whole silly argument could just as easily been over a classic cave in Yorkshire, a slate mine in North Wales, or a Mendip swallet. The principles at stake would have been the same.
