Just watched it and it's not bad for a "popular" show about a technical subject.

There are two sections in the programme:  from about 12 mins to 21min 50 and then again from about 23mins 30 to about 25 mins 50. 

Amusing that presenter Michelle was given an absolutely pristine bright blue over-suit - possibly to distinguish her from the other grotty-looking types.  However, her bum was noticeably muddy when she was being hoisted back up the shaft.  Knotlow system by the looks of it?

As for the surface abseil from the tower - can't say I'd fancy abseiling in an open and baggy coat!

DCRO explanatory bits are good and emphasise VOLUNTEER CAVERS rescuing their own.  Good bit of publicity for Cave Rescue generally and DCRO in particular.

I provided all the caving kit for the crew from my business stores, hence everything looking so out of place clean compared the usual state of cavers' oversuits.

Not quite sure what the idea was to incorporate a standard rescue into a programme about fighting crime, seemed to be just somewhere to fill time as they were in the Buxton area, but good showcase for the team.

One of the team's core roles is supporting the Police in missing person searches where caves and mines are present. This happens more often than most people are aware.

I know that, but it wasn't even mentioned, the nearest she got was a report of a robbery on two hikers at the end!

Each episode showcases the work of a particular part of the 'blue light' services or support networks.

We were approached a while ago and following our pre record the producers were keen for us to host it at our base as an alternative to Derby

Makes sense now - I did wonder why Cave Rescue on a crime programme.

Thanks to Pete for kitting out the presenter with that smart blue over-suit - if that's the standard of the gear in your store it's very posh!  Presumably you also had to kit out the production/camera team too?

Whatever; a really good bit of positive publicity for Cave Rescue services generally - just a pity they didn't mention how often the various CRO's are called out to help in a search.  DCRO are favourites for this one because of the number of abandoned mine shafts in the Peak District.  (I seem to remember that DCRO were called out once to search for a gun thought to have been discarded down a mine shaft after a murder.)  The two Yorkshire teams get search calls for lost hikers as well if there is a big search on, not just the Mountain Rescue teams.

and by reckoning CRO is currently (i.e. this year) the busiest English mountain/cave rescue team by incidents/callouts (on 78). Ogwen are on 85 and Llanberis are on 173 (which is ridiculous given that we are only on day 257 of the year). I could be wrong; I've only really looked at the Lakes teams!

Currently on 98 which makes them busier than Ogwen and CRO and means CRO is only the second busiest English team I've found. All pretty busy!

DCRO closed our year with 13 call-outs, thankfully there was not a 14th call so not a record breaker - just equalled

This still make us the busiest team in terms of purely underground work.

For those who like numbers that follow on, in the 12th month we recieved our 13th call on the 14th day, and finished the rescue on the 15th
