Hi All, we plan to be at Hidden Earth this year and are designing some new banners.

We'd like to include quotes from current forum members to encourage new folks to use and join the forum....so....

What does the forum mean to you? What do you get from it? What would cavers gain from joining?

If you post here, I'm assuming you don't mind being quoted on a shiny new banner.
Feel free to DM me if you prefer.

Thanks for your help, and thanks for supporting the forum, Pegasus 😁

I use the forum for gaining and sharing information about caving in general. As something of a regional caver and down in the south west I feel I can sometimes make useful contributions.

Even though I rarely cave outside my region any more, I love hearing about what's going on elsewhere and feeling part of thd wider British caving community.
It's a bit like bumping I to friends at Inglesport Café, or the Hunter's Lodge, but without the drive!

As a non UK caver I try to help the UK cavers with questions about mainland caving (Fe contacts and translations.) I also have a big interest in cave conservation techniques and try to share these. I love a good discussion about conservation.

So my main drive is helping out fellow uk cavers :)

UK Caving is the home of all subterranean exploration in the UK,

I use the UK Caving forum for the following:
- Gathering Information on caves, "Topos, Rigging & maps"
- Looking for any warnings given about cave access due to stability or conservation!
- Looking for digs to join!
- The Friday joke forum!
- Also seeing expedition progress from clubs and individuals!
- Community Competitions from UKCaving Sponsors!

At UKCaving you can talk with like-minded people and fellow explorers alike, "literally!" there is no other place that understands your need to explore caves better than the UKCaving Community.
:dig::dig::dig:

Hi All, thanks for the responses - much appreciated. Many of your thoughts match what I was thinking for one of the banners - sharing information, community, knowledge, entertainment etc, which is reassuring. 😁

And very grateful we are.

The standard of “moderation” is a big part IMO. The moderators generally find the “sweet spot” to keep things flowing without it becoming a “cess pit” like some other online forums. 👍
The good old Graham days 😂😂😂😂
