Dave was really chuffed about his new helmet with its built-in mobile phone - till his missus phoned with the shopping list.

Some hilarious contributions have been made here! My own favourite is Mark Wright's clever play on words ("Wild Places") but the decision rests with Pegasus. Whoever wins the book, I hope you enjoy it!

Great prize to compete for..

" What's that Yorkshire term for when it's slashing it down with rain, when even the cows and sheep run for shelter...... and you can nearly always guarantee an invigorating sportingly wet trip? "

"A Yorkshire summer !"

Thanks to everyone who entered  (y)

It was hard to choose a winner however having spent hours and hours in various caves waiting for the photographer to shout 'fire', sometimes for the flashbulb to explode and give me a right fright, or hanging about on a rope when heights are not my thing, or getting colder and colder as yet again it's 'just one more shot'....Mudman's caption 'Bloody photographers' did make me laugh

So congratulations, Mudman you win the copy of Adventures Underground - enjoy  ;)

Please PM me to arrange caver post.

Once again, thanks to John Cordingley & Dave Haigh for a) writing Adventures Underground and b) giving UKC a copy  (y) (y)  If you haven't already, do buy a copy, all proceeds go to two great causes authors of new caving books should be supported.

Oh wow! That's a nice bit of news to start the day with.  ;)
I must say I'm seriously well chuffed.  ;)

I'm so glad you had a chuckle Pegasus but in addition to your thanks to the authors for generously providing the prize (which I second) I must also thank you and Badlad for setting up and running the competition and for keeping the forum running and such a useful resource.

Your comment about flashbulbs made me chuckle, I was sat at the end of Chasm passage in OFD2 at the weekend holding a homemade bulb firer of Huge's and a growing pile of used bulbs where the firing of each had been preceded by such things as "Damn, the flash didn't fire," "Bugger the flash shouldn't have fired then," "No, I was only asking you if your were ready" and "Aaargh, my flash fell off the rock."

I shall PM you shortly.
Thanks again.

Woo hoo! ;)
Many thanks to Paul Nicholls of CRO for bringing my copy down to the BCRC conference today and to Minion for picking it up for me and dropping it off on his way home tonight.
Also thanks to Pitlamp for facilitating the caver post.
I'm going to enjoy reading this.  ;)
