No guesses? Not surprising since I effed up the clue!  :spank:  :spank:  :spank:

It should have read...

Act stern on small beer brewed in the dales!  (4,7,8)

Apart from thinking it's an anagram of Act Stern on Small Beer giving entrance as the final word.  I'm stumped.

..... keep going! And the history of this effed-up clue suggests I may be going the same way ......

With those clues, it must be...
Lost Marbles Entrance  ;D
... with which I confess to have been completely unfamiliar, but I see it's in NC.
Though now I come to think of it, I recall seeing a 'new' passage being dug out halfway down the slope leading to Marble Steps last time I was there (a few years ago) - maybe that was it?

Nice clue, though...

... a bit more help then? Where, in the song, do you go "Over the sea" to?  'Cos that's where this one is.

Yes, Skye was the easy part.

I suspect this is a cave hardly anyone has heard of.

I will throw in that cormorant is an alternative name for shag, and that the Comoros used to be a French colony, but I can't see how that helps!

Hurray!

An anagram of some of the words (capture and shag) , GHPASTURECA, inserted in the synonym, HIVE, for another word (colony). Simples!

And the ball is now in your court....

I did consider High Pasture Cave, but its letter count is 4/7/4, not 5/7/4!

Whoops! Someone show me to the door please. Quickly!
(From the excuses perspective, though, you have to admit that its an easy mistake to make given that the 4 and 5 keys are next to one another on the keyboard!)
