 If i believe it to be an anagram I First put the letters down randomely, putting the orig. words out of mind.  Last word usually pot , hole ,swallett, ect. cave in this  case. remaining letters juggle about on paper, looked for the 8 letter  the others easy after that.  Will pass on to another to post a  cryptic

Toothy  tri DENT [teeth] and that particular series of cave has certainly been hot on this forum these last few weeks
