Hmm.... 

Sounds as if it could be in the south east but is further west than that.

Explored by a guy from Ireland who wasn't Irish.

S'not really cryptic, but the best I could come up with after spending the afternoon laying a new carpet in the bathroom...   :)

Anyway lads and lasses, nobody is getting the right idea for my wonderful clue (apart from the word 'Pot' which is correct). I would have thought that one of the old codgers amongst us would have got this by now.
