Help With Failing Memory and Cave Name

I visited a cave up north a fair few years ago. Quite a well known cave where the entrance is in a rock outcrop in a river bed. The river is very prone to flooding and can seal off the entrance very quickly. The cave is very sizable inside.
Try as I might, I can't remember the name of the cave or the river.
Can anyone help me out to refresh my fuming memory?

I'd go with Ibbeth Peril in the bed of the R. Dee in Dentdale.

When you say up north where about roughly. Sounds like quite a few places. Ogof hesp Alyn for example

I would have thought asking in "The Dales" section would have implied it was Northern England rather than North Wales...
