CONGRATULATIONS TO LUSS
(Lancaster University Speleological Society)
for winning the CHECC Grand Prize!!
After spending an hour or so helping to clear up after the night before :yucky:, Tim and I attended the CHECC AGM at Hope Valley College in The Peak today. Didn't seem to be as many student cavers there as at previous events, however a great reason for this - many were underground enjoying trips down various Derbyshire caves or attending SRT training in the college gym .
There was an efficient election of committee members - congratulations to Jacob Puhalo-Smith of Nottingham University on being elected Secretary and to Botch, Brendan and Josh for being re-elected.
Then to the Grand Prize - I will post separately about who won which categories but have to mention how impressed we were with the quality of the entries this year - even if student cavers nearly gave me an effin heart attack by entering so late
As points were awarded it became a close run competition with Manchester, SUSS and Imperial vying for the lead
...however the final points to be awarded were by 'delegate vote' - where each club awarded 10 points to another. Vote after vote was for Lancaster leading to them winning a whole load of shiny new kit. Fantastic to see students supporting this newly reformed club
Thanks to CHECC and their committee for allowing UKC to get involved with their forum
Thanks also once again to those companies who generously helped UKC to support student caving
Many thanks to Nick Williams of Conformance Ltd for successfully using the Job Vacancies board on the forum
and making a generous donation towards the Grand Prize https://www.conformance.co.uk
