They are fairly common - more often found on the chimney breast of old houses.

Half of those are not witch marks They just VW adverts

Also in the likes of Goatchurch, Long Hole, and Nancy Camel's on Mendip.  Often found in churches too.  MCG seems to have a few witch hunters among their membership.
