Web page tab icons
« on: June 16, 2019, 10:12:40 pm »
Okay, so when I open a webpage of UK Caving I get a little black and yellow 'UKC' icon on the tab.
If I open an Ordnance Survey webpage I get a blue and red 'OS' icon on the tab.

When I open an Aditnow webpage or a Darkness Below webpage I get exactly the same icon for both. Is this a default icon for websites that don't have their own icon, or is there a link between those two websites?

Just curious!

If the site in question doesn't set browser icon then it will revert to the default for the browser you are using. For example in Chrome it's usually a picture of a little globe. There is no connection between those sites as far as I know.

Sometimes the icon may not load for various reasons, then you will see the default one. For me, AditNow shows what looks like a helmet with a light on but DB doesn't seem to have an icon.

The other thing you might see is sites that use the same content management system such as Joomla which has it's own icon. It doesn't mean the sites have anything to do with each other, just use the same underlying system.
