We have carried out our COVID-19 Risk Assessment and are COVID-19 Safe.
Although we are not having visitors at present we are hoping to keep all staff safe.

Thanks
Mary

The British Caving Library is up and running again at its site near Buxton for enquiries, either emailed or phoned in to the address given on our website: www.caving-library.org.uk (there is a voice-mail service). Each of the three cavers who work at the Library are driving in to work, on their own, on different days in the week (the ultimate in social distancing!) so that we can keep to government guidelines but still offer a service to cavers. Emailed requests are passed between us for the next person in to deal with so we're able to answer enquiries and provide scans pretty much as usual with only a small delay. (No visitors allowed for the moment, unfortunately, so you'll have to wait a while before you can enjoy the contents of the Library biscuit tin and the teas and coffees we always provide.)

Mary always comes in on a Wednesday so, if you need to phone in a request, that's the best day. Katie, with 3 young children at home, is coming into the Library to collect journals for cataloguing, taking them away to deal with at home and then bringing them back on the next visit. Jenny is coming in on the odd days when the others are not in and is also sometimes there at weekends. We have supplied ourselves with hand-sanitising gel, disinfectant spray and wipes, etc. and are being super-careful about cleanliness (next to Godliness, of course) so, apart from some of the really dusty old books, the place is squeaky clean.

We have a backlog to catch up on after being away for about 6 weeks during the first stage of the lock-down but, now we are back, we're trying to run the Library with as near to the usual service as possible.
