Well it looks like cavers come in all shapes and sizes (except tall, dark & handsome - never seen any of those in Bernie's).

What I've found useful is to cave with someone roughly the same dimensions as myself, particularly height wise. Width squashes (and boobs can go through the tight bits one at a time ) but I find it a constant irritation to be following someone who can easily reach while I'm on tippy-toes, or who can zoom along doubled over while I'm crawling. I guess it's a psychology thing - I don't mind suffering so long as everyone else is too!

This is my first post on here so be kind!! I am 6ft 4 and ,although ive not weighed myself for a while, I must be about 15 ish stone. I have never had any real issues with size in any cave, although I consider myself to be quite flexible! I have only had to ask for a pull one and that was in a section of flower pot in Carlswark! That was tight! Hope that might re assure you a little!

re; 'clipping in deviations that stumpy folk cant reach'

Less of the 'stumpy' please!  furious:

At five foot and a quarter of an inch (the quarter of an inch is crucial) its a joy to hear the six footers groaning and complaining like mad whilst Im running down passages; there are some advantages to being short.

I am new to caving, but am a little concerned that I am a little too large to really get through some of the caves!  I'm 6 ft three , not overweight but a good 14.5 stones muscular build.  I am really interested in having a go, and have found that I can easily squeeze through a ten inch high gap.  Will my size be a great disadvantage, and I don't wanna get stuck!!

A big un

As others have said, I really wouldn''t worry about it! I'm 6'4" and just under 13 stone there are some great caves you can go down without even having to stoop as a nice introduction, a great fit for your build would be OFD, a great cave to go to as a tall person! I'm also Bristol based if you want introducing to the delights of nice caving for tall people let me know!
