    **Rock fall** Alum Pot

Sunday 5th May We had just got to the bottom of Diccan Pot when we heard a rock “boom” from the direction of the open shaft. Time: 12.55. We headed up towards the bottom of the last pitch of Alum Pot to look at the view. Literally as we looked up at the daylight a rock (we both estimated to...

    Creating a “Closed” forum

Hi all One of the outcomes of the recent anchor installers forum was to use UKC as the main “hub” for discussion and information in the future. I am led to believe you can have a “private” or “closed” section on this forum platform. The idea would be to have a closed forum specifically...

Help producing a “New to caving”promotion poster

Hi Would anybody more talented than me (not a high bar !!) be able to produce a nice A4 size poster to help promote the CNCC “new to caving” initiative. (I am planning on putting them up at GG and other suitable locations) I have had a go but something more “professional” would be really...

    Busy in Alum

In Alum yesterday with a CNCC workshop. It was really busy, loads of routes rigged, cavers “everywhere”, everyone really friendly, lots of banter and cooperation, and surprisingly little waiting around. Thanks everyone 👍.

Climbing “banned” in the Vercors ??

Picked up via UK Climbing https://www.grimper.com/news-deconventionnement-interdiction-une-grande-partie-presles Apparently due to the FFME having to pay out a large insurance claim? Not sure if it will effect caving and canyoning?

Calling cave rescue via 999 ?

After a recent discussion with someone regarding how to call cave rescue, it got me wondering if there was any other route to use ? Im thinking the 101 number? Calling 999 to report “Bob and Bill late from an Easegill trip “ would feel a bit “awkward” in the current climate. Calling having...

Mobile phone coverage. Interesting but probably of no real use.

Today I managed to make a mobile phone call (and had 3g) from an iPhone whilst stood on the “bridge” half way down Alum Pot. Unfortunately the Pizza company don’t cover that post code !! (I was using the phone as a camera and got a surprise message through).
