Hi all I had the best trip ever into Daren this weekend It was my first camp at hard rock .we rolled up at white walls Frid eve and drank tea and got changed ready for the trip in . off we go up the hill the wind pushing us backwards bags heavy with goodies for the weekend ahead . The entrance is allways inviting that little stream of water trickling out waiting to greet you . In we go bags in front O what a lovey place . an hour later we finish the entrance for the rest of the trip ahead . on through time machine , bonzie streamway , and on we go nearly at the camp the water was waist deep never seen it that high before nearly went for a swim . Arrived at camp at 1.30 am O lovely it was in full swing and dinner was ready Tilly lamps burning . the cocktail party got underway went on till 3.30am they have a very well stocked bar all the colors of the rainbow . finally laid my head down for sleep at 4am bliss the sound of the stream soon faded as i fell into the land of nod . I woke up at 10am thinking it must be the middle of the night . got up and had breakfast o the bacon was good .a few mugs of hot chocolate later and we all were sliding into wet caving gear for the days caving / digging ahead the shiver of the cold soon disappears as we start to move on . went thought painkiller passage and the micron and had a look at ankle grinder where a photo shoot got underway wow that's some nice cave passages the vice and the sandy crawls is just the tops .went on to midnight high . then came back to do a bit of excavation work with Gonzo and Henry . its very nice digging in here .
Then we headed back to camp kettles on and helped to prepair gourmet dinner then washed my hair for dinner at 7, O it was excellent cuisine we had the most wonderfull chicken and rice followed by chocolate sheear pleasure . the cocktail party got underway again we got to bed at a more respectable time of 1.30 ish hit my pillow and slept like a baby till 9am the next morning then back down for breakfast bacon allways tastes better in a cave .
camp all packed up by 12 noon . headed out I took out the camp rubbish stuffed it all in the bag and off I went got to the entrance crawl then my bag turned into a something with teeth and put on a stone in weight . I had not used a Daren drum the bag gave me some serous entertainment on the way out I was amazed what can happen to a bag on rubbish when it wet . O what fun !! the rush of wind from the outside came I know I was nearly there 2 more turns and was done .
The outside was light the most wonderfull light you can ever imagine everything very vivid god it was good
really looking forward to the next camp a very big Thank You to Henry ,Gonzo,Steve,Andy snook , Andy and Adrian you were all such good fun to be with .
