Asthma Inhaler Storage

I am after advice from other asthmatic cavers..what do you carry your inhaler in to keep it dry and clean when caving? I sometimes put mine in a larger dry box with camera kit etc but I need to find something to carry it in when I don't need anything else with me. It is an easyhaler type, similar to the blue ventolin inhalers but slightly smaller.

I have in the past put mine in a small drybag and stuffed it into my oversuit pocket. Never had it go off or anything.

The powder type, rather than the propellant type?

I'm at a loss how to transport mine. You're not supposed to get them damp, let alone wet.

Do you do trips where all of you gets wet?

Powder that can't get wet! And yes to wet trips! This is why I need a new solution, I wasn't so bothered when I had a propellant one!

Aquapacs are generally pretty good but if you put anything with a sharp corner in them, you need to pad it. I have known them to puncture.

I just shove mine in a snap-top bag and wrap a laggi band around it. Obviously not 100% waterproof but it stops it getting covered in crud.

On a slightly different angle, if you keep a blue ventolin type inhaler in an emergency kit that is often transported but seldom used, don't worry too much about the expiry date printed on the inhaler, they seem to be effective for years afterwards.

I've got a small inglesport box (similar to a peli case) that's a good size for my inhaler (plus spacer in my case) along with a cereal bar, phone and car keys when required.

My partner takes this caving regularly and it survives wet caves well!
