The last time I went down Baker's Pit, about 20 years ago.  I did not need a key.  Just a hammer and a six inch nail.  I tapped out the rod holding the hinge together and opened the lid.  Can this still be done today?

By the way, calling someone Nig is a microaggression and I am triggered. There is no place for racism, especially on a caving forum.

I believe that Nig is a shortened form of his name and he has been known by that nickname since long before such PC terms as 'microaggression' were invented for needy millennials to get all offended about.

Will the CROW act sort all this nonsense out ? Then the lock freaks will have to find another hobby . Uk caving needs a safe space , some of us are triggered by the sounds of locks and chains.

Calling yourself Lockchopper instead of the more accurate term, Criminaldamage, seems aggressive.

Abusing your powers as a moderator is aggressive... oh... wait....  ;) :tease:

Newbie = Newbie Troll.

Apologies for stating the obvious but how do you know I am a white man when my avatar suggests that I have been dead for quite some time.

You find this funny, but it's merely an example of your white male privilege.
I'd like to find you funny but unfortunately you don't play the outraged liberal lefty handwringer bleating from his/her safe space about perceived injustice very well. You should have started a suitable social media campaign by now with a load of clever hashtags and carefully crafted memes of cats pulling strange faces.
Sorry,  you're just not very good at it.

Sorry Pegasus, I know I shouldn't have but I couldn't help myself.

Well, you have got a white skellington!

But that's what happens when skeletons spend too much time in the sun. Now people go brown, so trolls would have nothing to complain about.

Caving clubs are just demonstrating their patriachal male white privilege by putting locks on the entrances to caves. It's the social equivalent of a chastity belt. Another example of male dominance and misogyny.

We must destroy them!

Roy may have a white skellington, but he's from the black countray, which redresses the balance.

This forum is readable by the public at large, and that includes landowners and mangers.  What do they think of the various attitudes displayed on UK Caving?

About chopping locks off, or general, low level racism and bigotry?

What a load of bollocks. What racism and bigotry? Post a link to such.

I presume you are an existing member causing mischief.

CROW, and cave access in general, are important subjects that merit serious discussion, and indeed, landowners and others may well read this forum. Silly and undeserved accusations of racism aren't helping anyone, and if they are meant in jest, they aren't remotely funny. Whoever you are, Lockchopper, it's time to lay off.

Typical white male response.

Don't you see it's people like you and your mate Nig, who are responsible for this sort of low level aggression which prevents inclusion and as a result, why caving is the preserve of white males.  :coffee:
