BCA Conference

I need to track down a few people who won prizes at Hidden Earth, but who either didnt leave contact addresses or whose paperwork didnt find its way to me.  Looking for ...
  • John Hobson - (or possibly his grandson, I think)
  • Fiona Shipstone
  • John Stevens
  • Annette Price
If anyone knows these people, could you ask them to email their postal address to competitions@hidden-earth.org.uk. Thanks

The competition results and the awards and credits will be on the web site soon, but it takes a surprisingly long time to double-check everything and to check the spellings.

Just triple check under 'assault course' winner.  I think you may have got it wrong.

Just for the record I won 3 x survey books and 3 x baseball caps. All the prizes were donated to CHECC. Robbie Shone also donated his Wessex Hut vouchers to CHECC.

A fine gesture Dr--, er, Mark, and Robbie, my daughter is caving with them at the moment, I understand they are in Castleton in November.

Just a question about the beer...  why do you always sell that Mendip rubbish?  There are plenty of good local breweries near Monmouth and they all deliver for free.  Further more real ale should not be at room temperature but at cellar temperature.

Next time let's have a selection of the local ales with a maximum of two firkins per brew

cheers

I've come to the conclusion that the only way to get decent beer at the next conference is to get someone who is not from Mendip to organise it. Looking at the Mendip cavers' comments it's obvious they have no taste buds and no, I'm not offering to organise it.

I like "Potholer" and Butcombe. I'm not from Mendip.

I agree there are good Breweries handy for Monmouth though - Kingstone in Tintern, Wye Valley and even Rhymney.

If you like Potholer then you've obviously got no taste buds either. Potholer is OK if there are no other beers available. I remember one conference, I think it was Yorkshire, where there were unfinished pints of Potholer all over the place so I guess there must have been something wrong with that batch.

Talk to the local suppliers Les;  Rhymney Brewery claim that their non-brights will settle in a couple of hours and from personal experience I know this to be true  (y)

If its in Leek next year, there are quite a few micro-breweries locally, although it does run the risk of turning Hidden Earth into a BeerFest.
