Black Sheep Diggers presentation - March 29th 7pm
In the Crown Hotel Middlesmoor the Black Sheep Diggers are going to provide an evening presentation to locals and other cavers.
We will be highlighting with slides and explanations the explorations we have been doing over the years and that of cave divers plus research of the fascinating world of nearby lead mines.

Yer not the only one getting excited about the Berger! I think we've got the permit after you lot?
I reckon I need my head examined given that my last trip to the bottom of the Berger was a bit damp (http://www.cavinguk.co.uk/berger/ian.html), but still I'm looking forward to it.

During the OCC trip there a couple of years ago we took to leaving some gear in tackle bags at the foot of the surface entrance pitch having walked to the entrance in normal clothes then changing into caving gear at the entrance.
Most were paranoid (me included!) and shoved our bags out of sight in rifts or whatever (after all the cave may be well known but is off the beaten track and an hour or so from the nearest car parking at La Moliere!). One guy left his bag in view and it disappeared with his clothes!
I found the traverse line tied to a tree had been tampered with and some bent tent pegs at the foot of the pitch. Some bastard had fished his bag out using our traverse line with bent tent pegs! :evil:
... and hadn't even bothered to tie it back properly (the figure of eight knot had been unthreaded and the loop was just shoved back into the hanger - some unobsevant cavers had already descended the pitch before me using the traverse line for safety! :shock:
We stayed at a Gite on the road up to La Moliere on a bend near the end of the road (Les Feyneys (I think that's how it is spelled?)) - on a previous trip with the WSG in 1990 I camped at La Moliere but that is no longer allowed.

Im starting to get my head around the place, its as deep as snowdon is high. And you start snowdon from half way up!!!

CSCC will be doing this (I'm joining the trip for the second week...). SUSS also had a rota sytem when I joined their trip in 1998.

We only had one person at a time permanently manning on entrance duty and the nicking must have happened in the night when the person on duty was asleep...
