As part of the International Year of Caves & Karst (IYCK) the UIS has organised an event that is being hosted by UNESCO in Paris on Monday 13th September. The meeting covers aspects of cave conservation and protection, and is being chaired by Dr. George Veni, Executive Director of National Cave and Karst Research Institute (NCKRI), and President of UIS. Other speakers include the BCRA Chair Prof. John Gunn, Prof Fadi Nader (Utrecht Univ) and Dr. Nadja Zupan Hajna from the karst research institute in Slovenia.
