CNCC AGM - 22nd March in Clapham

CNCC

Well-known member
Our 2025 AGM will be held on 22nd March, 10am at Clapham Village Hall.

This year, we are seeing a few changes to our team, with three current Officers standing down.

Chair:
Andrew Hinde has been our Chair since 2017, and has given more to northern caving during this time than anyone could ever expect. As well as representing us with various other countryside and access bodies and the BCA, Andrew has provided leadership and support for conservation and access initiatives. He is stepping down to try to encourage new people to come forward, and this has worked... we are pleased to see an application from Todd Rye.

Treasurer:
Pete Bann has been our Treasurer since 2015 (except for a one-year gap). The job of Treasurer is perhaps the least glamourous and most thankless, yet without an efficient and reliable volunteer, we would struggle to work. Pete has been a proactive supporter of CNCC and a very safe pair of hands for our finances. We are really pleased to see an application from Kath Davis, who for the last few years has helped us to scrutinise our accounts.

Access:
Kai Trusson has been our Access Officer for only one year, stepping in from the floor at our last AGM to avoid the role staying vacant. Kai has proactively pushed forward existing projects and new initiatives, ensuring access issues have been efficiently triaged. Kai's enthusiasm will be a loss to our team, but we understand that our loss is going to be CHECC's gain. We have two applicants for the role and whatever the outcome, we hope to benefit from the enthusiasm of both candidates.

Agenda:
The agenda for the meeting is now online:

Attendance:
We welcome anyone to attend, to participate or simply spectate. You will always receive a warm welcome. If this is your first meeting and you want to arrive a little earlier for a chat or to introduce yourself, there should be a handful of our team at the hall setting up from about 9:30am.

If there is anything you'd like to raise at the meeting, if you have any questions, or if you'd like to attend remotely (Zoom) please contact our Secretary.

We aim to be done by midday so plenty of time to get out caving afterwards. Member clubs are reminded to email our Secretary to confirm who your voting representative will be in advance (or to use the old-school approach of providing them with an authorisation letter to bring to the meeting).

A reminder that our AGM is this weekend... Saturday 22nd March, 10am at Clapham Village Hall.

The officer reports are now uploaded to our website where they have joined the previously published agenda:

We always love to see a strong turnout of northern cavers - including those who are not 'regular' faces at our meetings. It's a great chance to meet us, tell us what we're doing well, what could be better, and what else we could be doing. Alternatively, it's a great chance to catch up on lots of northern caving initiatives and news, and to see what we're all about.

We will be doing our best to finish by midday so plenty of time for caving afterwards

We really like seeing you in person - it's always a friendly and jovial atmosphere (tea/biscuits usually available) - but if you'd like to join remotely from the comforts of your home or caving hut, you still have a few days to email our Secretary to ask for joining details.

Thank you to everyone to came along to our AGM - about 43 people in total - including 7 online.

This was a superb meeting in which we achieved a decisive mini-overhaul/modernisation of our constitution. On top of that there was considerable support to continuing the review process to see how we can better represent and democratically involve more cavers outside of clubs in the future.

We're pleased to re-welcome our previous Committee - including Tim Allen continuing as our Individual Caver Representative.

Welcome to some new faces within the Officers team:
  • Todd Rye - Chair
  • Kath Davis- Treasurer
  • James Alderson - Access
And welcome back to some returning Officers:
  • Jill Bolton - Secretary
  • Kay Easton - Conservation
  • Ian Patrick - Training
A more thorough report (and of course the minutes) will be available in due course.
