After a “New to SRT” workshop on Sat/Sun, Monday was the first running of a new workshop looking at Pull through trips using Swinsto.
The aim of this workshop was to look at specifics of running an efficient and safe trip through this classic cave.
We also took time to look at some “generic” skills suitable for all types of pull through trips.
Some topics covered:
• Pre trip planning (weather, call outs etc)
• Rope lengths and preparation.
• Finding the right cave.
• Emergency equipment to carry
• Rigging for safe approach and efficient pull downs.
• Problem Solving etc
The participants had come from:
• Cornwall
• South Wales
• Keswick
• Blackpool
Low water levels made the trip far more comfortable.
A really engaging group made the trip really enjoyable. At the bottom of the “Split Pitch” our attendee from Cornwall produced 5 cream eggs which were throughly enjoyed by all.
The next Swinsto workshop is full, however due to their popularity we will look to add some more in the near future.
