Current Draenen Access?

Just wanted to check the latest on access to Draenen, given the recent Descent article. I'd always assumed that you didn't need to 'book' in advance, so long as you knew your way round, the code to the door and signed in using the usual book. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm hoping to visit next weekend and will make necessary arrangements in advance.

Sounds right to me, Chris, unless anything's changed.  If that's the case then half the cavers in Wales don't know.  If you're gonna park by the pub then suggest you ask the landlord if it's okay and that you'll pop in for a beer later.  Otherwise there's the dogging hot-spot across the road but might be a bit sketchy for parking.  Unless you leave a couple in the car all day.....!

Hmmm never knew that. I've been on the lookout for a new outdoor hobby - at least I'd get to meet some friendly new people

If you want to do it by the book, I think you're still supposed to get in touch with Sue Mabbett. You can get a permit by phone or email http://www.cambriancavingcouncil.org.uk/cave_access.html. Although, if you've already got the combination I'm not sure what purpose this serves. I don't suppose a permit will make you less likely to trash the place.
