    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

I'm camping in Dent this weekend.  Does anyone know if there's been any significant extensions to any of the caves in NC3 (ie are any of them longer than 2 metres now?)  Or any recommendations of caves to do in Dentdale (without sumps please?)  I have done Ibbeth Peril (1+2) - they were good but was hoping to do something different if there's anything anyone recommends having a look at.
Thanks,
Gemma

It's been a long time since I've done any caving in the Dent area but I seem to remember that Hackergill caves were quite entertaining, also Tub Hole and, if you're feeling slightly more adventurous, Nettle Pot.  Apart from that and Ibbeth Peril I can't think of any more without consulting NC which is at home.

Nirvana/Grabbers's Cave is meant to be good. Details are in Descents 132/140. Hopefully somebody else should be able to tell you a bit more!

George.

Thanks.  We did Nettle Pot on the Saturday - didn't manage to do the through trip though. Went as far as we could from top and also from bottom - there was a rock in the widest bit of the passage before you get to the concrete culvert and with the water in it as well and the fact that you had to shape your body in a s bend we opted not to do it.  Has anyone done it recently?  We weren't sure how recently the rock had got wedged there and decided maybe it was recent as there was loads of flood debris in the passage.  However, maybe it's been there ages and it is in fact passable and we're just wusses!!  It felt like an intimidating flat out crawl either way though!!
