I have been there about a year ago its a lot more fun than it sounds in caves of south Wales but a bit short i was not diving thought but sump one looked very clear. There is 2 routes to sump one one of which is very small and wet as it caries the stream. Only visit in very dry weather or the entrance duck may be sumped there are some photos from a rescue on the swcc sight I think. Not sure about access but I don't think its used for water supply any more as the stream runs through a dirty field after exiting the cave. Not sure if the cave has been pushed to a conclusion but the water presumably comes from some where on Cribarth mountain possibly Ogof Sinc Y Cribarth. it is also quite close to Craig Y Nos Quarry Cave. Might be  worthy of more investigation.

Documented in the Welsh Sump Index third edition 2006.

Confusing as the introduction says "The system comprises short sumps that eventually reach Sump 9." Later on the detailed description says "The upstream passage eventually ends at Sump 8. This has been explored for 6 m to an airbell before a localised silt obstruction. This could be removed to give access to the ongoing passage."

From this I assume that the airbell is being regarded as the end of Sump 8 and the ongoing bit as Sump 9. I could be wrong. I remember John Adams did a lot of diving here and he wasn't small, but neither was he really large!

Access is arranged by asking for permission at the shire horse center, they still use the water for the farm. You need to cross their land and over a fence.

The entrance is the back of the reservoir, water flows all year round and can be quite high after heavy rain.

The caving is fairly easy and short to the sump. Its been about 4yrs since I was there last, lines were in reasonable condition and early sumps are easy, a minor constriction at the start of sump 1 but nothing difficult.

Mike Barnes spent a lot of time digging at the terminal point, I believe he was the last person to have a serious attempt.

Access to the cave has been withdrawn by the landowner. Negotiations are currently being undertaken to try and restore access.

Please do not hastle the owner as this will only make the situation more difficult.
