We've recently become aware that the lid at Lathkill Head Top Entrance was left without the bolt on it. The person who discovered this was unsure whether to add the bolt or not, in case cavers were trapped inside.
When using lids with the Derbyshire key system, please leave the nut on the thread and close the lid on top of it so that anyone on the surface knows there are people in the cave. Also please ensure the lid is secure before leaving.
