Mendip Rocks, Earth Science Lecture Day

Mendip Rocks are holding a number of presentations on Saturday 17th October as part of the Earth Science Week. Talks will include:-

Anjana Khatwa, award winning presenter and writer: "The Whispers of Rock: Stories from the Earth". Vince Simmonds, archeologist and cave explorer: "Echoes of the Ice Age: A Pleistocene Record from Mendip Cave Deposits" Of particular interest will be the recent find, the Woolly Rhino Skull that is now in Wells Museum. Lathkill Head Top Entrance

We've recently become aware that the lid at Lathkill Head Top Entrance was left without the bolt on it. The person who discovered this was unsure whether to add the bolt or not, in case cavers were trapped inside.

When using lids with the Derbyshire key system, please leave the nut on the thread and close the lid on top of it so that anyone on the surface knows there are people in the cave. Also please ensure the lid is secure before leaving.
