Mendip caves: worth a visit or not?

Puzzled. Can't find any mention in the quoted text of Manor Farm Swallet being shut. Am I blind?

I also wasted a substantial proportion of my time looking in the quoted text and back through the previous posts looking for relevance with WL's comments (which aren't entirely true either  :tease: )

"The cave is closed annually between 1st June and !st November"

It did not shut even during the foot and mouth crisis, although bizarrely did shut for a time, just after the crisis.

That book is now 10 years old therefore some of the information contained within it is out of date.

Ended up going down Hunters Hole (topo from CSCC is wrong!)

Any chance of elucidation on this so that whatever's wrong can be put right?

As we have been regularly going from The M.C.G. H.Q. to our dig of Battery Swallet
we pass The Shepton Mallet digging site of Gibbets Brow

Gibbets seems very, very busy lately

Bleadon Cavern

near Hutton

Les Williams asked me once if I knew how to get in this cave,
apparently you have to ask Chris Richards.
I have been down it a few times but years ago.
One of the two brothers who owned it, lived next door, Dave Coles.
Doug Harris told me a few weeks ago that Dave has recently died.
I  do not know if that means the access procedure will change.
Nick Richards would probably know.
