Our Secretary, Josh Young, has indicated his intention to stand down at the upcoming (11th March) AGM after four years of excellent service (and a few years before that as Assistant Secretary). We are therefore seeking a volunteer to take on this role.

Our secretary needs to be able to spare 2-3 hours per week (on average) to deal with email correspondence, compile agendas, take and write up minutes and communicate with our members about meetings, ensuring meetings run smoothly and in accordance with the constitution.

You can perform only the core secretarial duties or, if you are enthusiastic to help CNCC explore more ways that we can benefit northern caving, you can take an even more proactive role. The role can be what you wish to make it. Regular checking of emails, a clear written style, fluency with computers, good communication and organisation, plus an understanding of northern caving are important. Attendance at four Saturday morning meetings per year (ideally in person) is needed.

You would have the support and assistance of two former Secretaries as well as the other CNCC Officers, as part of a friendly team.

If you are interested, please contact our current Secretary (secretary@cncc.org.uk) to discuss or come along to our January Committee meeting (14th January, full details on our website) to have a chat with us and see how things work if you are not already a regular attendee.

Being involved with CNCC is an extremely rewarding experience. As well as working with many other excellent people, mixing with people from all caving backgrounds and many different clubs, it gives you a chance to see so many other aspects and perspectives on caving than you otherwise might not. It is also a chance to make a real, positive difference to northern caving, something most our volunteers will agree has given them immense pride.

The application deadline is 14th January.
