Hadn't really considered caving not being just a sport, but being more a way of life - though I do agree. Many sports are the same though, the friends you make, the shared experiences. Not being competitive certainly helps caving elevate beyond just sport. I think my favourite so far is multifaceted, thanks for all the suggestions, thought provoking....
