Regulator question : Poseidon... worth it?

I dived a Cyklon (2nd stage) and Apeks DS4 1st stage (sometimes referred to as Franken reg) but haven't been able to for a little while now. They did work out well though.

Poseidon 1st stages had good ports for routing but I ended up standardising 1st stages so have 4x DS4s - I remember someone talking about the DST having a swivel tower so made routing a bit better, but they are double the price of the DS4 (which you were able to source for under £100 new at one point..
Removing a few circlips on the Cyklon (2nd stage) will allow removal of the diaphragm to clear out grit - I've only ever had that problem with Cyklons though, I know some people used nylon across the mouthpiece to prevent ingress.

If diving as part of a team then some standard gear across the group is good as allows for failure.

I tend to use Apeks Tek3 first stages - originally intended as twinset regs, but I like them for SM as they route the hoses down the cylinder.

For seconds I normally use an ATX40/XTX50 combo.

Cyklons have another massive advantage though in that their slimmer cross section and exhaust on the side are far better in tight, silty sections of passage where your face is quashed down.

That's a very important point about the low bulk of Cyclon 2nd stages. It's one of the (many) reasons I use these regs exclusively. Even just packing several regs into a container benefits from their slender sizing.
