SRT Harnesses for Kids...

I like your practice set-up, JAshley, but could you explain what a 'Ashley Vertical Caving Simulator™' is?
It's when you hang a rope from your attic, turn the lights out, and give it a fancy name so you can talk about it on the internet. ;):ROFLMAO:

you may have already tried this but I've gone up a rope before using a 60cm sling with a knot to shorten it as a chest harness - one end fixed to a chest jammer using a maillon and the other end just looped around the back of my neck. Provided you don't look down too much while prussiking it works fine for short pitches (I've only ever done this for about 10m, it may be problematic on longer pitches but I've never tried so couldnt comment) and it would be possible to make it fit someone very small if you used a shorter sling?

I ended up purchasing an MTDE "Club" caving harness at the advice of out retailer. He mentioned that it's made in such a way, so that there's nothing limiting how small it can be adjusted for fit. He pointed out that in a trial, he was able to close the waist loop around his own thigh - indicating that it will be no problem to fit it around my daughter's waist. I wish it had butt-risers, but that will be easy enough to add with some webbing, and cheap buckle/slides from Amazon.

For the chest harness, I begrudgingly got the below webbing harness. My thought is that it should be no issue closing down small to fit her. If it sucks for attaching the Croll and adjusting for comfort, then we'll try an AV Spelshoulder chest harness next.

Her birthday is a few weeks away, but the following weekend is a Vertical class that I'm hoping to get her enrolled in. It'll be a really cool birthday for her I hope.

Brilliant - I rate them highly. And if it does fit your daughter as well as mine fits me, I'll be rating them even higher - a thigh is impressive ;)

I wanted to circle back and give a quick follow up on the issue, and the MTDE Club harness for children, if for nothering else, posterity's sake perhaps.

The harness worked perfectly! It would be "even nicer" if it had more substantial gear loops, or riser straps, but those are just minor quibbles. It cinched down perfectly for my very slim 11-year-old daughter's waist & legs. The excess straps were kept at bay nicely, and it adjusted down snugly without issue.

If there's anyone needing a rugged harness for small-statured adults or children, I would give the MTDE Club harness a strong look.

I believe you can get slide on additional gear loops for harnesses, that might be worth a look!

AV makes some. However, in her case there really wouldn't be room on the waist belt to attach them. (So I certainly can't blame MTDE for leaving them off, right...!)
