TopoDroid text scaling issues

I'm just getting to grips with TopoDroid (currently using version 6.2.44-34)
When I create passage names, the text stays the same size when I zoom in and out.
How can I change this so the text stays the same size relative to my sketch? (i.e. it changes size when I zoom)

I'm not sure there is an option for that. You can change the font size of the label under 'Sketch Settings' -> 'Point' -> 'Labels size' but I think that's a display font size (i.e. it is related to your screen size rather than your sketch zoom).

Probably an important question is why: either because they are taking over the survey when you zoom out (which I imagine could be very annoying) or because you want to change the 'output' size of the label (which isn't related to how it appears on screen and depends on your workflow e.g. Therion, SVG or whatever.

I use TopodroidX but as Andy says you can't really get that funny scaling to change on the topodroid zoom

You can however change the Font size (my default was 45 and that is much to large, I find 20 is the sweet spot for me)
It's also worth checking sketch settings/sketch point settings check to see if you've got 'Point icons are not zoomed' checked or not.

You still get a bit of adjustment to screen size but you might find it makes it useable!

This thread seems to have died very quickly.

As an add on to the first question I posed regarding issues scaling text, I also have problems with the scaling of things like water flow symbols etc.

How can a programme as sophisticated as Topodroid have issues with scaling of inserted cave mapping symbols?

You can scale the water flow - any point size can be altered. You place the point and then drag up or down to scale it. Equally you can go into point edit.

The text point size can also be altered the problem is it still does that silly zoom scaling.

Point size altering is useful for Therion if you want maps at different scales. You can tell it to hide point size small for a certain output for example. Few people use topodroidx to produce finished maps with the current pdf export so point size isn't tremendously useful, it's better to freehand draw with line user for a unique formation and label it and then redraw or edit the th2 in Therion/whichever workflow you use.

Also why do you want to use water flow point when water flow line exists - you don't have to edit the direction for every point then. Same with slopes.

I would recommend attending one of the cave surveying group meetings as people discuss this all the time, equally feel free to PM me.

Thanks, although the silly zoom scaling seems to affect a number of other things, not just text.

You said "Also why do you want to use water flow point when water flow line exists".
I've not found a water flow line amongst the line list.

This may sound like I’m taking the biscuit or p, but have you tried the videos in Italian, I find the accent/language quite soothing and the pictures do quite a bit of the talking.

Marco is the guy who designed and built it.

Post in thread 'Youtube videos for Survey data collection (not by me!)'

Also search for topodroid on google and you’ll get the user manual by Marco on his website.

Ps. Threads about surveying die very quickly, it’s a vast topic and a lot is learnt by a lot of people through trial and error. Many people bluster through/ignore issues if it’s stopping them getting to the end goal - a fully ‘finished’ survey.

You might need another of his videos for exactly what you want, but you could span an entire evening just watching these videos!
