Video of recent flooding?

That really is good. Considering that it was 'casually' produced as you infer, why is it that a lot of other peoples videos are so poor by comparison.
A really exciting trip as well, nice one.

Hmmm, a trifle damp. How long was it between going in, with the floor of the blockhouse still above water, and coming back out, when the water was gushing into the entrance?

I have done a quick and dirty edit of the film I took. For the technically minded I used an Olympus TG6 and the two others carried underwater video lights (plus our headlamps of course). It can be seen here: https://youtu.be/32_eN3MzzJY

Fabulous, thank you!  ;) (y)

Four of us went in at 10.30 with the intention of checking the Mud Sump to see if it was being filled up by water resurging from the Moles' Dig. At that time the water was nearly at the top of the BOTTOM pipe. The first person turned round at the start of the Water Rift (the bit at 3 minutes in). We put a handline down the drop at the old Forty. The Twenty was sporting as were the Double Pots. At this point the second person said NO to descending the second one so the two of us at the bottom turned round and we all came out. We met 2 people in the Water Chamber who said they had come in the Wet Way but would not advise going out that way. They were the 2 people (MCG?) seen coming out at 3 mins into the video. We also met 2 people at the top of Jacob's Ladder who told us the water was part way up the TOP pipe. Jacob's Ladder was a nice waterfall (1 minute into video shows the other 2 from the MCG party coming up it). We got out about noon. At that point the water was halfway up the TOP pipe, about an inch below the level at the start of the video as there was no puddle to walk through to get to the entrance. It was rising quickly.  We met Pete Glanvill's group at the entrance and chatted for a few minutes. In that time the water had risen to cover the path. Don't know what time the other groups came out.

I believe there were at least 2 parties who looked at the entrance and decided against descending.

I can tell you exactly when I get the videos back as most cameras record timing but unfortunately the hard drives went off this afternoon with the guy who is revamping my server. This sort of data can be very handy - we used it a while back to ascertain which Green Holes I had taken photos in on a diving trip in Ireland a while back. I can give you an estimate that between the time we went in when the water had just started to flow through the uppermost pipe  and when we came out to find the water entering the blockhouse was about 2  hours maximum as all we did was go down the Dry Way, pause for ten minutes in the Old Grotto while we attempted to use a jet washer on the stal (as you do!) and failed due to the filter blocking in the turbid water., visit the Water chamber, watch the pair struggling then after a brief visit to the Lavatory Pan came out.

Wow that's some scarey stuff, especially the exit. The final version can do with some dramatic music and then you will be famous like that guy we once took caving (Never again) who got stuck in a tube and almost got half a million u-tube hits lol.

Hi Mike

My Davis Vantage Vue w/station has a tipping rain gauge.
Where were the EA figures recorded?
As a comparison on 4 October  GaugeMap shows= Priddy 45.8mm ; Stoke Bottom Farm 28.6mm; Grove Farm 44.2mm.
mine 55.8mm

This shows big variations within a few miles

Come on then, Alex. We'd best have a link to that  ;)

Usually lighting...

Yes there is variation across quite small distances, but the position of the gauge can also affect how much "misses" it, or if the wind tips it before full, depending on prevailing direction etc.

Perhaps we can combine footage some time and put together something for a future HE with voice overs from the participants.

My feelings as well. I have incorporated observations and warnings into my Descent article.

It would be helpful if you could name this parts of the cave and the cavers moved through the various chambers etc.
