What else do you do apart from caving?

Interested in Andy F's bottle collecting as Nick Chipchase did this after caving for years, sometimes visiting the same sites!  He then came back to caving before taking up diving become something of a teccie and wreckfinder/identifier using his acquired research skills.

Me ,I've caved and dived since my teens. Take photos everywhere and had a dalliance with hang gliding for 5 years in the late 70's early 80's before concussing myself and finding  I hadn't got the time. If not the above like walking the moors and  hills and anything that seems vaguely exciting.

All these escapist pursuits are frequently linked. When walking in the Canaries the only other people we have ever met using the same guide book were white water canoeists and climbers. Of course the Germans get everywhere.

I tried climbing but the heights scare me, it's technical and there is usually an easier way to the top.

Oh and skiing is fun although my style is crap.

Well work and family take up most of my time not caving/cave diving. I like to ski/snowboard. I also play the trombone in an orchestra. I'm crap but nobody seems to care (there aren't enough trombone players it seems, so if you can read music and know which hole to blow in, you're in! (spot the subtle allusion to ANOTHER DISCUSSION going on at the moment).

Also interesting to note that nobody has mentioned any team sports, or competitive sports if we assume that the skiing and cycling mentioned is done purely for pleasure (apart from Gus breaking the mould with his chess). No football, cricket, rugby, tennis, etc ?

I have also played a set of these in the past, but only get my instrument out on rare occasions nowadays.

A bit of cycling, a bit of walking, rather too much sitting, eating and drinking......

Tried hang gliding once but couldn't really afford to carry on.

Well did a lot of climbing last year, that gave way to kayaking in the summer but back caving as often as poss so not much else other than a good game of squash when I can get it, and learning to fly (aeroplane).
This week has been solely occupied with praying for 5pm today....not long until 10 days of freedom!
Also played the piano for...blimey, 12ish years now.

Good thing too.

Me, apart from all too rare caving trips, I like to Stalk Celebrities, and  collect Restraining Orders.
Occasionally I also help to restore Old ( 1930's/ 40's/ 50's) Fighter Planes.

I also like to spend time cultivating My Beer Belly/Hangover.

Are you sure you aren't attempting to make music by blowing into a seal hunter's garments?

I like quiet rarely visited places to visit.

i had a major bike accident 2 years ago and x misses took all that was precious to me (including all my caving and climbing gear) so i am just getting to the stage where i can go caving again without borrowing tonnes of gear off of mates. but when I'm not on the scrounge for gear i go shooting and indoor climbing (being in east Anglia there is not a lot else to do other that help keep the bunny population under control).

it not quite the same as hanging by your finger tips off some crag or getting cold and wet and boring people about story's of caves in the local pub but it keeps me happy!!!

Fairly predictable I'm afraid. Caving, rock climbing/mountaineering and skiing. I probably spend an equal amount of leisure time caving and climbing through the year and significantly less skiing. Was pondering whether there's anything else that I'd like to try in 2007. Couldn't think of anything at all (I don't have much imagination) but there's probably a lifetime's worth of things I would like to do in each of those activities.

Used to do a fair bit of climbing (rock and alpine) but not done any for a few years now. Caving activities are restricted to a few Cave Rescue practice sessions each year. Trouble is finding the time to get away for more than a day at a time since the commitments of looking after livestock are pretty much 24/7. Have recently found a way of combining rigging skills learned while caving with off road skills that come from driving land rovers round the farm and have taken up doing off-road winch challenge competions with some success.

Otherwise spend a lot of time on community issues being treasurer of local agricultural show as well as being a regular in local pantos and other daft productions.  ;)

caving, walking, karate, playing cornamuse, gardening, looking at wildflowers, looking after local nature reserve, dabbling in all sorts of things, not enough time for any of them, can't wait to retire!
