Here is a book that clears up the mysteries of seven sisters, the auxillary cave and tells the story of a murder with the body found in one of the quarries
It contains lots of other information about Bathampton down - over 200 pages and full of photos and maps
Here is:
The preface

Hi all
Most people who like digital maps will know about this site already.
I went to a SGMRG talk last night and was pleased to find that Bristol's know your place website is to be extended to cover the whole of the south west.
The web site provides good quality historical digital maps...
Well the cycle path is finally open, but as some people I know have already been through it I got curious
as to where it went and which quarries were nearby. So I registered the Sustran map
onto GoogleEarth and combined it with the MCRA. Here is a link to the kml and maps

Rooting in my loft I found some old caving vhs tapes including:
Possibly the best caving video ever
"A year in the life of Yorkshire Cave Rescue Organisation - 1994"
Rescuing university cavers during the silly season (freshers weeks)
and of CNCC's secret weapon - Toby Chilton.

Brian C and myself went on a ramble around Ridge/Park Lane tramway on saturday.
We were surprised to see the progress made on opening up park lane quarry in Neston. It is being re-opened after a lengthy planning permission process.
An enormous earth and stone barrier around the new entrance...

We were in Box last night - travelling from Jacks Entrance through to Backdoor via a visit to the upper series (with help from the surveyors)
As we returned from the dodgy upper...

Last night we did our first visit to Bath Swallet when we did the through trip from Rods Pot ( trip report here).
I managed to dislodge a small rock in the ledge within Showerpot - this rock was only small but it caused a much larger rock (40-50cm diameter) to become unstable - so we gave it a...
The ideal outcome to this post is that I would like some advice about how to obtain a spare part for my petzl duo.
Failing that a shared understanding of the failings or not of the petzl duo.
I posted a message on the petzl web site describing my problem and received no reply or even...
Last night we tried to visit Slaughter Stream Cave and had a rather short trip.
A collapse has blocked the entrance series just before the first of the two pitches in the entrance series. The collapse can be found just after the last of the fixed ladders in the entrance series, where the way on...
Hah hum
This should bring a smirk to you thinner mendip cavers.
I lost my gear bag with 10 or so maillons and hangers and several krabs a spanner and pliers in whitepit.
If anyone finds them and returns them I would be most grateful. Beers certainly.
We are trying to mount a rescue mission...
Thanks for a good trip from Mike and Nick our guides and
for Hades for allowing our club to visit in their slot after our trip
was cancelled due to high water levels. Oh and a big thanks to Nicola for
facilitating this trip at the last moment.
It was a first trip into the cave for Lucy, Paul...
We recently went down Big Bang Pitch, after having admired it from below before.. but we had never even taken a
look at it from above before (so we received some surprises). I have some questions about rigging it and am interested in some background to it as I understand it
was the original...
Does anyone know the current procedure for obtaining a key and permit to Agen Allwedd?
We would like to visit in the evening on tuesday 2nd October.
But we are having difficulty contact the (usual) permit secretrary.
I suspect that a temporary alternative procedure may have been set up...
