Cwmystwyth confrontation

It has been drawn to my attention by a local farmer that there was a confrontation recently with persons dressed to go underground. This was between them and the farmer who had politely asked them not to park their van in a way that blocked his access to a track that crosses the river to land on the opposite bank over which he has grazing rights. The answer was to "Go f----g round it". This got him the wrong way and he advised that is the van was not moved he would do it with his tractor.

This is not the way that I want site visitors to interact with the local farmers and I advised the farmer that he has my full authority as the legal landowner via my Cambrian Mines Trust to deal as appropriate with persons misusing the site and to report matters to the police with vehicle index numbers etc. Apart from this its not really a good representation of the attitudes of cavers and explorers when we all try very hard to project a good image of our sport. Its not really very nice as well to me when I have put so much into keeping access open for the benefit of all.

I am confident that the persons concerned were not any of my friends here on UKC, but please let my comments as above be circulated.
