Dudley In The Dales. Swimming, Snow & Smiles

After a rather manic couple of weeks at work our boss asked if we fancied a couple of extra days off to make a long weekend. Jess and I contacted Brendan and so a plan was hatched to finish off our route finding in Ease Gill of the main routes.
After a bit of faff Friday morning we eventually left late and arrived at Inglesport gone 11am.
As we hadn?t managed a lot of sleep in the last week, and we had some new toys to play with, it was decided we would just start the weekend off gently with a trip in to the Long Churns to have a play with the new flash guns and bulbs.
This culminated in a shot being taken from the top of Dr. Bannisters hand basin.
Looking down from the top we needed a little more reflection coming off the walls and Brendan began using his boot as a bucket to throw the water. After one successful go he slipped and nearly fell so I told him I would continue. Filling a wellie I went to toss the boot full over the wall , slipped and tossed the whole lot over Brendan?s head. His response was to curse me loudly, turn, slip and fall in to the pool behind him!

Saturday saw us entering Top Sink with the plan of taking a couple of photos of Easter Grotto en route. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that Brendan?s box had flooded and all his camera gear was soaked. On the last couple of trips we had found County Pot with ropes left in and so we decided to head there for an easy exit as we had quite a bit of heavy kit with us. Arriving at the bottom of County there were no ropes and so we revised our plans and lugged all the kit through Wretched Rabbit instead. All suitably knackered we decided to leave the Top Sink ropes rigged and retrieve them on a photo trip on the Monday to shoot the impressive entrance pitch.

Exiting in to a fine Yorkshire spring day!

We started Sunday with breakfast in Inglesport where we met up with Pegasus and Badland to say hello before heading in to Lancaster Hole. This time we had thinned out the amount of kit we were taking in and had plenty of time to shoot some pics as we made our way through the upper series and back out of Wretched. We even managed to meet up with Tim and Jane for a drink and great meal at the Orange Tree.

Monday saw us return to Top Sink, this time joined by Pegasus who had offered to be my model for a go at taking a shot of the 1st pitch. Jess headed off to de-rig Penknife whilst Brendan had the joy of standing in the flowing water lighting from below?.Cheers mate ?
Unfortunately for me, being slightly Chunky I spend most of my time at floor level crawling through the water of the winding, snug rift passage. Jane took great delight in the fact that she could slip easily through the rifts and even came back to grab more kit for us??Thanks Pegasus you can come again!

No, thank you!

Had a great time and would love to go caving & photographing with The Dudley again  ;D

A fab set of photos - thanks for posting

Those pics of Long Churn show real talent at 'seeing a shot', the Dr. Banisters one would baffle a lot of people in a 'wezzit' slot
