Cavers of the north!

We’d love to invite you to Easegill Open House – a 10 day caving festival at Bullpot farm, running for the first time, in June this year!

The idea is similar to the Winch meets at Gaping Gill, where loads of fun and classic routes are rigged across the system and cavers are encouraged to come up and celebrate Easegill caves. The permits and hut have been booked out exclusively for the event, and camping is also available. There are brilliant chefs preparing hearty post-caving meals every night which everyone is welcome to opt into for the cost of £5/meal and a cavers’ bar running.

As it’s the first time we’re attempting something like this, to try to manage numbers and vehicles, we’ve made booking ahead essential (even for members). As always with big events at the Farm, parking space is limited, so we’d urge you to consider lift sharing.

So, if you are free for one or more days and want to be part of something very special and new in caving, sign up now:

Come along with your wellies in June! For more information, contact message me direct.

If you think you could also contribute to the smooth running of the event, all volunteers will get free hut fees and evening meals for the days they volunteer.

Some of the jobs are:

• Rig an Easegill classic on Friday 20th June
• Cook a tasty meal for 50+ cavers (not single handedly, unless you’d rather!)
• Manage the call outs for the day
• Run the bar for a night
• Derig on Monday 30th June

If you think you can volunteer: https://forms.gle/92xMqpHFyaprQ33q7

I would imagine that the weekends will be busy... Does the booking form allow you to see how many others are attending which days, and what routes will be more or less crowded?
Hope to be in a position to book up once I know how my other plans are shaping up 👍

This looks fantastic, well done for organising. I'm trying to round up a group of Fylde MC cavers past and present to come along. Likely to be the Tuesday or Thursday. I will fill in the form once I've got some numbers and we will try to all cram in a van.

Bull Pot Farm was our original caving hut for a short while in the 1950s. Excerpt from our 1990 Journal.

Hiya Brains,
I'm not really sure of a clever way of doing that, but definitely we'll look at that for next year.
Trips and call outs will all be managed day by day, because the one thing we can't prepare for is the British weather in June!
Still plenty of space and we hope to see you there!

So for anyone thinking that the farm is already going to be rammed:

Be assured, there's still plenty of bunks available... even at the weekends!

It's June, lots of students have gone home and people are away on expeditions or holiday, so don't be shy about signing up for what is set to be a great event :)

What a great initiative to help bring cavers together.

For the caves of Easegill which feature on our online booking system (County, Lancaster, Cow, Top Sink, Pool Sink, Wretched Rabbit and a few others) we have blocked these out for the duration of the event. This does not mean you can't visit these caves (they are on access land). However, we strongly encourage anyone planning to cave in Ease Gill Caverns from 20-30th June to join the event or ping the organisers a quick message in advance to help them anticipate daily turnout. At the very least, liaise with the organisers at Bull Pot Farm on the day of your trip and be willing to be a little flexible so they can try to spread traffic across the various rigged entrances and ensure everyone has an excellent time.

Finally, a polite reminder to hopefully ensure this can become a more regular event...

Good luck RRCPC, and we hope this is really well supported.
