A memorial to/ celebration of the Mining Industry and its effect on Featherstone (really its reason to exist) is to be unveiled tomorrow Friday 18th This will take place at 11:30. Location - adjacent to the 'Trading Post' opposite the 'Aldi' (old pop factory) entrance. Teas & Coffees will be available beforehand (around 10:30 onwards) at the Community Centre (back half of the Library building) and just after 11:00 those gathered will walk down to the site. Everyone is welcome - think on this - we need to remember and support such occasions - for if we don't we can't expect future generations to remember. I've been lucky enough to have a sneak preview and here's a couple of pictures of it being built to whet your appetite BUT you'll have to wait 'til Friday to see the whole thing - I'm not spoiling the surprise and 1 picture showing us what we are remembering. For those NOT knowing Featherstone well the location is on the main Wakefield to Pontefract road near the Town centre and about a 20 mins walk from Featherstone Railway Station (walk straight down the main street & turn right it's about 300yds along the road).
