• Descent 302 is published on 15 February and it will soon be on its way to our subscribers.

In the newsdesk, read a review of the underground events at Kendal Mountain Festival, plus tales of cannibalism and the Cavefish Asteroid.

In regional news, we have three new connections in Ogof Agen Allwedd, a report on the iron mines of Anjou, an extension to Big Sink Cave in the Forest of Dean, a new dig in Yorkshire's Marble Steps Pot, student parties, an obituary for Tony Boycott, a tight find in the Peak District and a discovery in County Kerry with extensive formations.

A 'bog-standard' shot . . . still, nice to see on a late-summer trip down Alum Pot:

The other post on here regarding Pete Rose's flashbulbs got me looking at some older stuff. Here is Pete ( died this year ) and Trevor Knief ( now so ill he can hardly walk across the road ). Photo on slide with flasbulbs in the Time Machine 1989. That name in itself says it all. Tempus Fugit. The cave remains the same whilst we slowly age and inevitably have to give up the sport we love. Yes remember your mates. The cave will always be there.

Is that Cueva Las Palomas, mrodoc?
Or Naturalistas - depends which end you go in I think. It is getting more visited I think as there were several cars there when we went whereas in the past nobody else about. Fun cave for all ages. Found another at Tahiche but it involved some grovelling in lava so a very short trip!

Correct. The direction you travelled is from Jameo Gente to Jameo Puerta Falsa. The locals tend to go the other way as the climb out of Jameo Gente is less alarming than the climb into it.
