Slit Pot pitch in Simpson Pot - Unavailable midweek 29th October to 1st November inclusive
On 29th October, weather permitting, two of our anchor installers will be undertaking work at the main Slit Pot pitch in Simpson Pot.
This work will involve replacement of all of the existing anchors on this pitch, following the recent observations of wear due to 30 years of cavers pulling ropes through the anchors (see separate thread for discussion).
We are hoping to be able to re-use the holes left by pulling out the existing anchors to avoid the need for drilling more.
This work is required regardless of whether a decision is made this Saturday to install a chain/ring system here (which would simply be fitted across two of the existing anchor locations), or to leave the pitch as-is for pull-through via the anchors directly.
This is a reminder that if you want to participate in that discussion, to come along to our meeting:

Your avoidance of the traditional Slit Pot pitch during this midweek period would be much appreciated (the resin needs two full days to cure so the new anchors will be good to use by 2nd November). During this time, the Slit Pot bypass and Great Aven routes will still be available.
A note will be left at the entrance, and on the new anchors, for anyone not seeing this advance notice. Obviously this work is weather-dependent.
Thank you to our installers for giving up their time to sort this out
