Tuesday, early morning; very small amount of sleet overnight frozen on side roads. OK, with care.
(Clapham area - may not be the same elsewhere nearby.)

Just had an update from some Red Rose members that Fell Lane is still not passable. Tried with snow chains on but were unsucessful. They think it could be doable in a Landy but no vehicle signs

My plan tonight was to head up to masongill and leck fell to pull some ropes out of caves, I'll update later as to how it goes, though I'm not overly hopeful

I got to the corner with the bench on the masongill road, and to Fellside (last building before the farm) on the leck fell lane. Definitely both passable to higher vehicles with snow chains, but my poor little VW caddy didn't like it. Did some wonderful reversing though. Oh well, my ropes will stay there till the thaw!

Been to Yordas today with others in normal type cars. No problem. Bit icy in places but ok on the steep bits. Beyond the farm at Kingsdale head the road is closed. Apparently, quite snowy but also a report that a camper van is stuck up there.

I have some snow socks for my caddy, make a massive difference well worth getting a pair

Snow socks are amazing, and way less hassle than chains. Although if you don't slip them off as soon as you're off snow, they get shredded in minutes - or maybe it was just my Temu specials ☺️

We were up at Sunset tonight, the road up Chapel-le-Dale is all clear as you'd expect, the snow was about 30-40cm deep on the hill though. Saw some lights that looked like a couple of folks heading up Black Shiver Ridge for some moonlit winter mountaineering, magical.

Tried the road to the farm today and got to about 220m (beyond zig zags before left bend). That was being cautious in a 2wd with winter tyres but no chains or socks.

Abandoned, drove up barbondale which has been well treated and then walked over the bridleway (c30mins) to the farm. No tyre tracks on arrival at the farm.

Has anyone been up the road from Austwick into Crummackdale in the last couple of days? Just wondering what it's like for driving.
