Descent 305 - Pre-order is open!!
Our August/September issue has a publication date of 2 August, and it is a special summer bumper issue full of stories of exploration and wonder from the underground world.
I was underground, digging, but there's no streamway or water. However other clubmates were on an Oxlow / Maskhill exchange and they reported it much wetter than usual.
:wiggle: Peak Cavern was flooded over Saturday night. We had a really interesting look round on Sunday albeit a short trip. Lumbago had about 9 inches of airspace and Wayne had his camera. He was determined not to go in and made the mistake of saying if the gate was open I would go in. Big mistake Irene (One of the guides) said but it is open we didn't have time to close it before it flooded. Quickly got changed into caving gear and had a brilliant time taking photos and being overwhelmed by the volume of water. We all know it floods but it is impossible to imagine unless you see it. The water was knee deep at the tourist fence and the slide was completely obscured by the water.
Water level at Mandale Mine at Over Haddon still pretty high at bottom of the incline. Going in with wetsuit, hopefully, next weekend and see how far we can get to the sough and main workings.
