For anyone who had taken a trip with a photographer. ..

Just one more shot

Can you stop shivering you're blurring the shot

"Now make sure you chaps hold onto the tackle through this bit; if you drop something down there we'll never get it back" (TFS, approx. ten seconds before inadvertently releasing an ammo tin containing camera, food & car keys on a bumpy journey down the Lower Traverse, Eastwater, c 1978).

Another couple of feet and the dig'll be through for sure.

The passage gets easier / wider / taller soon.

It looks worse from this side.

Don't touch the loose roof ... or the walls ... and try not to touch the floor too much either.

Caving turns of phrase often result in a bit of eye-blinking.

The one which most commonly gets the mind squiggling is hearing that people have "done" a cave rather than visited it.

Presumably to do a cave infers more than a quick whizz around a classic route, e.g. to have visited most of it, hence leaving nothing more to do.

Or is it fair to lay claim to having done something by the merest action of popping in, albeit briefly, beyond the limit of daylight penetration?

Why can't we say we've visited a cave, rather than having to say we've done the cave?

I wonder if it's related to the climbing/outdoor ticklist mentality - I've done that route, done that peak.

You could say "I've done "a trip" down that cave" which suggests less that you have seen every nook and cranny. Or "done with that cave" meaning you will never go back (but of course you will....)
